Tucson, AZ – Stetson beach volleyball rebounded with two impressive wins Saturday afternoon, securing a 3-2 victory over receiving votes Arizona before sweeping Oregon 5-0.
Katie Camp and Maria Ozaeta put the Hatters on the board first with a straight-set win on court 2, 21-13, 21-15. Marta Carro and Julia Radelczuk followed up with a hard-fought three-set victory on court 3, 21-19, 19-21, 15-10. Julia Czurylo and Madeline Camp clinched the match for Stetson on court 4, also in three sets, 18-21, 21-18, 15-9.
Youna Coens and Grace Goudy fell in straight sets on court 2, 13-21, 15-21, and Vanessa Hurnikova and Hanna Gubik lost a tough three-set match on court 5, 21-11, 19-21, 14-16.
The Hatters followed up their 3-2 victory with a dominant performance against Oregon. Coens and Goudy bounced back with a strong 21-15, 21-18 win on court 2. Carro and Radelczuk took their match 21-18, 21-10 on court 3. Hurnikova and Gubik secured Stetson's third point on court 5, 21-17, 21-19. Czurylo and M. Camp closed out their match 21-17, 21-17, and K. Camp and Ozaeta completed the sweep with a three-set win, 21-23, 21-12, 15-9.
Next up for the Hatters is a tournament in Fort Myers, where they will face FIU at noon and North Florida at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7.
