Men's Golf In Fifth After ASUN 1st Round

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- The Stetson University men's golf team turned in a 1-under par 287 to sit five strokes behind the leaders after the first round of the 2026 ASUN Conference Championships at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Six of the 12 teams in the field registered scores below par on the 7,517-yard, par 72 course, which is hosting the ASUN Championships for the second-straight year. FGCU and North Florida lead the field at 6-under par, while North Alabama is at 4-under and Lipscomb is in fourth place at 2-under. Stetson and Eastern Kentucky are tied for fifth at 1-under par.

Individually, Jackson Hicks and Thanattasorn Supinraj paced Stetson with the two players each turning in scores of 1-under par 71. They are among six golfers that share 13th place among the 72-golfer field.

Simon Engman is tied for 19th place at even par, while Matthis Lefèvre and Gaspar Glaudas share 27th at 1-over.

A trio of golfers share the individual lead at 5-under par, including FGCU's Sebastian Gamboa, North Alabama's Andrew Ferworn and Austin Peay's Patton Samuels.

The field returns to Kinderlou Forest tomorrow for the tournament's second round with Stetson starting off the first hole at 8 a.m. The Hatters are paired with golfers from Eastern Kentucky and Lipscomb.

Hicks, a senior from Roswell, N.M., overcame a difficult start to finish at 1-under. He was 1-over par over the first five holes, but went 2-under with no bogeys over the final 13 holes. His 13 pars was the third-highest total among golfers in the field.

Thanattasorn, a freshman from Thailand, registered five birdies on the day and finished second behind teammate Lefèvre, in par 5 scoring. Engman's six birdies was the second highest total among the field.

The final round of the 54-hole event is scheduled for Thursday morning. Live results for all three rounds can be found by clicking here.
