DeLAND, Fla. — Stetson women's soccer returns to the road Thursday, Sept. 3, when the Hatters travel to Pensacola for a matchup against West Florida at 5:30 p.m. The contest marks the first meeting between the two programs and gives Stetson an opportunity to build momentum heading into a four-match homestand.
Scouting the Hatters
Stetson returns to the road Thursday looking to turn the opportunities created during the opening weeks of the season into results. The Hatters have shown flashes on both sides of the ball through the first four matches and will look to put together a complete performance against West Florida.
Clare Boesel has started every match in goal for the Hatters and has made 16 saves, including a career-high nine against No. 4 Florida State. She enters Thursday's matchup with a .593 save percentage and has provided a steady presence in goal throughout the opening stretch of the season.
Stetson has recorded 19 shots through its first four matches, including a season-high 10 against Troy. Julianna Liguori and Eva McCoy lead the Hatters with four shots apiece, while Payton Quinones has recorded a team-best two shots on goal.
While the Hatters continue to search for their first goal of the season, Stetson has shown its ability to create opportunities in the attacking third. The Hatters will look to turn those opportunities into their first breakthrough of the season against the Argonauts.
Bianca Mazzaferro has started every match along the back line and has played 358 minutes this season, alongside Stella Comana who has logged 351 minutes. Comana has provided an attacking spark from the left side, using her speed and ability to draw fouls to help Stetson create opportunities.
Defensively, Stetson has shown its ability to compete against quality opposition, holding both No. 4 Florida State and Kennesaw State scoreless through the opening 45 minutes. The Hatters will look to carry that defensive foundation into Thursday's matchup while finding a way to capitalize on their offensive opportunities.
Scouting the Opponent
West Florida enters its first season at the Division I level and picked up its first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over McNeese.
Kaitlyn Herb, Lucia Revuelto and Olof Thorvaldsdottir each found the back of the net in the Argonauts' season-opening victory, with each player recording at least three shots.
Karla Guzman-Ortiz earned the start in goal for West Florida and made six saves in the victory. She enters Thursday's contest with a .857 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average.

Thursday's matchup will mark the first-ever meeting between Stetson and West Florida, giving the Hatters an opportunity to establish the series history in the inaugural matchup between the programs.
