DeLand, Fla. - The Stetson men's tennis team (7-1) suffered its first loss of the season Thursday afternoon, falling 5-2 to nationally 70th-ranked Troy (1-7) at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.  Troy's record belied its talent as its first seven matches were all against ITA Top 75 competition.

Stetson captured the doubles point thanks to close victories by the combos of Alex Hackett (Surrey, England)/Chris Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) and Didrik Berg (Oslo, Norway)/Cesare Gallo (Portogruaro, Italy) and extended its lead to 2-0 after a singles win on Court 1 from junior Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus).

That would be the limit of Stetson's success on the courts today, however, as all five remaining singles matches went the full three sets with the Trojans capturing wins in all five to claim their first win of 2011.
