UNF Hands Hatters Third Loss of the Season

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Stetson men's tennis team (14-3, 5-2) lost just its third match of the year, but it was the second in the squad's last three outings, as No. 66 North Florida (11-7, 5-0) defeated the Hatters by a score of 6-1 on Saturday afternoon.

The nationally ranked Ospreys began the day by sweeping Stetson in doubles play to earn the first point.  Junior Hans Adrian Riseng and freshman Laurynas Antropikas put up the toughest fight, falling just 8-4 at the number one doubles position.

The Hatters didn't have much luck in singles play either, as UNF won the first five matches and cruised to the 6-1 win.  The Ospreys won in straight sets in all five of their singles victories, but it was Stetson winning in just two sets at the number six position.

Sophomore Nathan Debut took set one against North Florida's Leonardo Nahar by a score of 7-6 after winning the tie breaker 7-4.  The left-hander then took set two with a bit more ease, earning the 6-1 win to give Stetson its only point of the afternoon.

The Hatters will finish the regular season with one final home match on Saturday, April 13.  Stetson hosts Florida Gulf Coast at 10:00 a.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
