Men's Tennis Falls to Presbyterian 4-3

The Stetson men's tennis team lost its second straight match on Friday, falling to visiting Presbyterian by a score of 4-3 at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The Blue Hose, who were ranked 75th in the nation earlier in the season, got out to a good start winning the first two doubles matches to give Presbyterian an early 1-0 lead.

Sophomore Cahit Kapukiran quickly tied the score at 1-1 after defeating Danny Bruce, 6-1, 7-5 at number three singles. The Blue Hose countered by winning at number six and then number four to make it 3-1 in favor of PC.

Freshman Graham Ball improved to 6-1 on the season in singles action with a 6-2, 7-6 (11-9) win at number five to bring the Hatters back. Sophomore Laurynas Antropikas then tied the match at 3-3 with a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 comeback at number two.

Presbyterian came away with a comeback of its own as Grayson Mills won 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 over junior Nathan Debut at the number one position to earn the 4-3 team victory.

Stetson, now 3-5 on the year, will continue non-conference competition on Monday. The Hatters host Siena at 3:00 p.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
