Hatters Blanked at Georgia Southern

STATESBORO, Ga.—Georgia Southern blanked Stetson, 4-0, in men's tennis Saturday at Wallis Tennis Center.

Stetson (3-3) won one of three doubles matches, with the No. 3 duo of Graham Ball and Coilin MacNamara picking up a 6-4 win. But the Eagles earned a 6-4 win at No. 1 and a 6-2 victory at No. 2 to earn the doubles point and a 1-0 lead.

Georgia Southern wasted no time in clinching the match, winning in straight sets at Nos. 4-6 in singles play. The top three players in the lineup did not finish their matches.

"Credit to Georgia Southern for playing a solid match from beginning to end," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "They out-competed us, which is hard to admit but in fact the reality of the match. We are more than a month into the season already, and must do a better job now in the tight moments, when games and sets are on the line. We will certainly keep working on that, as I am looking for some improvements as early as next week when we host Florida A&M."

The Hatters next host Florida A&M, 2 p.m., Saturday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
