Angus Bradshaw & Colin MacNamara won, 7-6 (7-5) and the No. 1 duo of
Loic Blanco &
Colter DeCoste earned a 6-3 win.
In singles play, the Hatters (4-3) quickly won the first three matches to clinch the overall victory. Blanco earned a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 1, and Bradshaw followed at No. 3 with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.
Graham Ball clinched the match for the Hatters with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2.
With the match in hand for Stetson, play continued.
Pierre-Emmanuel Fossier and MacNamara suffered three set losses at Nos. 5 and 6, but
William Shkrob picked up a win at No. 4 with a 7-6, 7-6 victory.
"We are building this program around a 'Team First' mentality, where the needs of the team always come first," head coach
Christophe Noblet said. "Today was a perfect example of that. Will is going through some tough time in his personal life, and for him to show up and keep on fighting for the team today, speaks volume of his character. Resiliency is not something you are born with, but you acquire over time by dealing with what life throws at you. Will taught us a big lesson today, and I cannot be more proud of him and the whole team."
The Hatters next visit Bethune-Cookman, 10 a.m., Sunday.
