Hatters Earn a Pair of Victories on Saturday

DeLAND—Stetson men's tennis picked up a pair of victories on Saturday, defeating Florida Southern and Florida Tech at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.
 
Stetson earned a 6-1 win over Florida Southern in the morning, and downed Florida Tech, 6-1, in the evening match.
 
"I am proud of the guys for staying focused and making adjustments throughout the day," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Our doubles was lacking the necessary energy this morning, but we adjusted tremendously in the afternoon to be a lot more aggressive and take over the net. Florida Southern and Florida Tech are two good teams, and we had to be ready for some tough battles today. It was also satisfying to have everyone contribute, and participate in the team's overall success.  Thank you for everyone who came today, as most of them stayed the whole day to support us. We had a fantastic atmosphere, and that certainly helps us play better tennis."

In the first match of the day, Stetson lost the doubles match before sweeping singles play. Graham Ball, Loic Blanco, Angus Bradshaw, William Shkrob, Pierre-Emmanuel Fossier and Coilin MacNamara each won their singles matches. Ball needed a third set but won, 10-3, in a super tiebreaker to remain undefeated on the spring.
 
Against Florida Tech, the Hatters opened play by winning the doubles point. Shkrob and Bradshaw won at No. 2, while Ball and MacNamara were victorious at No. 3.
 
Blanco, Shkrob, Bradshaw, Fossier and Colter DeCoste were all victorious in singles action.
 
The Hatters return to play when they visit Florida Atlantic next Saturday.
