Hatters Close Regular Season With Loss at UNF

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—Stetson men's tennis was denied its opportunity to win the Atlantic Sun Conference title on Saturday, falling by a 5-2 score at North Florida.
 
With the regular season now complete, the Hatters (14-5, 5-2) will serve as the No. 2 seed for next weekend's ASUN Tournament.
 
The day began for the Hatters by losing the doubles point. The Ospreys picked up wins at No. 2 and No. 3 for an early 1-0 lead.
 
UNF won singles matches at Nos. 5, 1 and 4 to clinch the match. The Hatters finished strong, getting a 6-4, 6-2 win from Colter DeCoste at No. 6, and a 2-6, 6-2, 6-4 win by Angus Bradshaw at No. 2.
 
While the Hatters fell short of the regular season title, Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet knows there's a larger prize waiting next weekend.
 
"Credit to UNF for playing good tennis all season long and coming on top today," Noblet said. "I am pleased with the way this young team is learning, and thriving to get better every day. This is really the best part of the year, and I know the guys are looking forward to putting it all on the line and bring the trophy home."
 
The ASUN Tournament runs April 21-23 in Fort Myers.
