Hatters Blanked by FAU

Stetson men's tennis suffered its first loss of the season on Friday when Florida Atlantic handed the Hatters a 4-0 setback at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

"FAU was the better team today and fully deserved to win," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet. "We fought well for most of the match, and had chances to come back. They did a great job closing off those opportunities on us, and that is why they got the win today. A great match to learn from, and hopefully we can apply those lessons on Sunday as we face a tough Georgia Southern team."

The Hatters (4-1) kept it close but were swept in doubles play.  The Owls captured a 7-5 win at No. 3 and a 7-6 victory at No. 2 to clinch the point.

In singles action, the Owls won matches at Nos. 2, 3 and 5 to earn the sweep. The Hatters were leading at No. 1 and tied at No. 4 and No. 6 when play concluded.

Stetson next hosts Georgia Southern, Noon, Sunday.
