Hatters Rally Past Georgia Southern

Box Score Stetson men's tennis turned in a solid performance on Sunday as the Hatters downed Georgia Southern, 5-2, at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center in DeLand.

Two days after suffering their first loss of the season, the Hatters (5-1) battled back to win five of six singles matches after dropping the doubles point.

"This was an important win for us," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Our doubles was subpar and quite disappointed, and I wanted to see how the guys would react to that. I am proud of the effort we put in singles, and showed much more confidence than on Friday. We need to learn a ton from every match we play, and apply those lessons right away. Every game is an opportunity to grow, and I think we did that today."

Georgia Southern (1-7) won the first singles match to take a 2-0 lead, but the Hatters stormed back. Linus Bergevi collected a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 6 and Loic Blanco followed with a 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 2 to even the match.

Angus Bradshaw gave the Hatters a 3-2 lead with a 7-6 (7-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 and Antoine Sanchez clinched the team victory with a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 4.

Malik Bhatnagar closed out the afternoon with a 61-, 4-6, 7-6 (7-2) win at No. 1.
