Hatters Sweep Beleaguered Wildcats

Box Score Stetson men's tennis eased to its fourth straight victory with a 7-0 win over a depleted Bethune-Cookman squad, Friday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The Wildcats suited up just four healthy players, and one of those was forced to retire early in his singles match. Therefore, Stetson (4-0) barely broke a sweat in earning the win.

"I really hope Bethune-Cookman get its full lineup back quickly, as it is not a fun position for them to be in," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "Nevertheless, I thought we played some good tennis and looked quite determined to impose our game style. It is important for us to see our guys play with confidence and a clear game plan. We are looking forward to the next one."

Only one doubles match was played, and Stetson's No. 1 team of Loic Blanco and Antoine Sanchez eased to a 6-0 win.

In singles play, Coilin MacNamara and William Shkrob won by forfeit at Nos. 5 & 6, respectively, and Malik Bhatnagar was victorious at No. 1 after his opponent retired before a point was decided.

Blanco earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 3, Angus Bradshaw was a 6-0, 6-0 winner at No. 2, and Sanchez closed out the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4.

Stetson's Sunday match as College of Charleston was cancelled due to expected inclement weather, so the Hatters next play when they host Florida Atlantic, 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 16.
