Hatters Earn Road Win at Mercer

Box Score Stetson men's tennis picked up a solid road win on Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Mercer in Macon, Ga.

The Hatters opened play against the Bears (8-5) by winning the doubles point. The No. 2 team of Angus Bradshaw & Malik Bhatnagar won 6-2, and the No. 3 team of Loic Blanco & Antoine Sanchez also earned a 6-2 victory.

Blanco and Bradshaw won their singles matches at No. 2 and No. 3 in three sets. Blanco rallied for a 6-7, 6-1, 6-2 win, and Bradshaw followed suit with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-1 win.

William Shkrob gained a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5, and Coilin MacNamara collected a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6.

The Hatters won their fifth straight match, improving to 10-2 on the season. Head coach Christophe Noblet was pleased with Stetson's performance.

"Doubles was very solid today, as well as the back of our lineup," Noblet said. "We struggled a bit at the top, which is unusual, but it's a great reminder that we cannot take anything for granted and must work hard for every single match. Loic and Angus fought back and stayed the course, to win those three setters. That's never easy to do, especially on the road. This was a good learning opportunity on many levels."

The Hatters next host Eastern Kentucky, 5 p.m., Tuesday.
