Hatters Win Fourth Straight With 5-2 Victory Over Valpo

Box Score Stetson men's tennis picked up its fourth straight win with a 5-2 victory over Valparaiso, Wednesday at Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.

The Hatters (9-2) won for the eighth time in nine home contests by taking the doubles point and four of six singles matches.

"Today was about being disciplined and focusing on the task," Stetson head coach Christophe Noblet said. "I thought we did that very well in doubles, earning that point in a short period of time. Certainly, one of our best doubles performance recently. Singles wise, it definitely could have been better as we let our guard down once the match was clinched. We cannot let that happen, as it could become a bad habit down the road. Playing mid-week during Spring Break is not necessarily the easiest, so I am glad we can put a 'W' in front of this match, and we must now focus on a tough Mercer team."

Malik Bhatnagar & Angus Bradshaw earned a 6-1 win at No. 2, and Loic Blanco & Antoine Sanchez gave Stetson the point with a 6-2 win at No. 3.

Blanco was the first on the board in singles action, taking 6-0, 6-2 decision at No. 1. Bradshaw followed with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 for a 3-0 lead.

Bhatnagar, who was named ASUN Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season earlier in the day, gave Stetson the match with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win at No. 2. Bhatnagar is now 10-0 in singles.

Valpo (2-9) picked up wins at Nos. 5 & 6 before Sanchez closed out the match for Stetson with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 victory at No. 3.

The Hatters next visit Mercer, 11 a.m., Sunday, in Macon, Ga.
