Hatters find success on day two of the Wake Forest Invite

Winston-Salem, N.C. -- The Stetson University men's tennis team competed in the second day of the Wake Forest Invite Saturday afternoon at Wake Forest University. 
 
In the second round of the East draw of the A2 singles, Sven Thiergard fell in two sets (6-4, 6-4) to Duke's Faris Khan. Fabian Penzkofer advanced to the finals of the East draw stage after defeating Georgia State's Tao Castillo in three sets. Then in the semifinal round, Penzkofer topped Abhimanyu Vannemreddy in two sets to advance to the finals on Sunday. 

Joshua Laka advanced to the final round of the West stage of the B2 singles after a three-set semifinal round match. In the South stage of B2 singles, Sami Ozzor advanced to the finals after a two-set victory in the semifinal round. 
 
Penzkofer and Tim Gennes topped NC State 7-6 in the final round of the West stage of A3 doubles and then Ozzor and Thiergard advanced to the final round of the West stage of the B singles but fell 6-4 to Georgia State. 
 
"Very good day for the Hatters," said head coach Christophe Noblet. "The second day is the toughest day usually in any of these fall tournaments because that's when you play the most matches. We displayed great character throughout the day by competing from the morning all the way to the end of the day." 
 
The Hatters men's tennis team will be back in action at the Wake Forest Invite on Sunday, Nov. 7 beginning at 9 a.m.
