BURLINGTON, N.C. – The Stetson Hatters men's golf team shot a 23 under par at the Elon Phoenix Invitational at the Alamance Country Club in Burlington, North Carolina. The Hatters were second through all three rounds and pushed tournament winners Elon but could not overtake them.

"We had a good week overall, but we came here to win," head coach
Danny Forshey said "We had some good play over the week, but it came in spurts. We have finished second in our last three events and while those are good finishes, our team aspirations are to play and achieve higher than that. This team has a lot of potential and we did not compete at our highest level this tournament. We will keep working toward our home event and look to change the outcome next time around."
Â
The Hatters were led by graduate student
Cameron Henry who finished with a 208 and five under par. Redshirt sophomore
Truman Keppy was a stroke behind him. The other three Hatters,
John Houchin,
Javier Calles and
Matt Gauntlett all finished under par and in the top 30 of a field of 100.

Stetson will prepare to defend its home course as Hatter men's golf welcomes teams from across the country to the Daytona Beach Intercollegiate at the LPGA International (Hills Course) at Daytona Beach on October 24 and 25.
