DeLand, Fla – Stetson came up with the win 4-1 against Washington University, in their final non-conference matchup.
The Hatters dropped the doubles point to start the afternoon. The teams of
Lucas Olivier,
Marc Saura and
Ervin Haris Eminefendic, Juan Jose Rodriguez both fell in their matches 4-6 to surrender the point to Washington University.
During the singles play, the Hatters took control of the match against the Bears, winning four consecutive matches to clinch the victory.
Sami Ozzor won going 6-2,6-2 on court 4,
Ervin Haris Eminefendic followed up with a 6-3,6-1 win for Stetson.
Marc Saura got the win on court win going 6-4,6-3 and
Alexandre Hillhouse sealed the victor for the Hatters winning 6-3,7-6.
Court three and six were not scored due to clinch play.
'We won, but the way we won today was not always pretty and we need to play better moving forward," said Stetson head coach
Christophe Noblet. 'We have one day to prepare for North Florida and this team can continue to win as they have a lot of fight and today needs to be a reminder that it takes everyone to get the job done and we will need a team effort on Friday."
Stetson will host North Florida on Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center, this match was originally scheduled for Saturday, but has been moved due to weather.
