Hatters Finish Runner-Up at ASUN Championship After Sudden-Death Playoff

Filippa Jansson earns All-Tournament honors with second-place individual finish

OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. — The Stetson women's golf team came within inches of a title at the 2024 ASUN Championship, finishing as runner-up after a sudden-death playoff with FGCU at Hampton Cove. Both teams finished the tournament tied at +41, forcing the playoff to determine the champion.

The Hatters opened strong, leading the field after a dominant first round where they posted a team score of +1. Although they slipped back in the second round, Stetson battled back on the final day, carding a 16-over team score behind matching 34s on the back nine from Filippa Jansson and Isaki Sakashita.

The second-place finish marked Stetson's best result under Head Coach Teresa Brown and the program's highest at the conference tournament since winning the ASUN title in 2011.

Jansson led the way individually, finishing as the Championship runner-up at +4 overall. She fired an even-par 72 in the final round and opened the tournament with a team-best 69 in round one. Jansson tallied 35 pars—second-most in the field—along with eight birdies, four of which came during her stellar opening round. Her performance earned her a spot on the ASUN All-Tournament Team.

Freshman Isaki Sakashita delivered a strong finish as well, climbing from 22nd to a tie for sixth at +9. The Japan native shot even-par (72) in the final round, making 33 pars and seven birdies across the three-day event.

Elizabeth Eberle, who was tied for eighth after round two, finished in a tie for 19th at +14. She opened with a 71 and recorded six birdies overall, three of which came in the first round.

Julieta Oviedo placed 27th at +19, highlighted by a team-best +4 in the second round. Alisa Brannock rounded out the Hatters' lineup, finishing 41st at +26.
