JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Two rounds are complete at the Sea Best Intercollegiate, and the Stetson women's golf team heads into Tuesday's final round in third place at San Jose Country Club, positioning itself among the top contenders in a strong field.
Stetson posted rounds of +4 and +9 on Monday to sit at +13 overall, trailing only Florida (-20) and Duke (-11) on the team leaderboard. The Hatters hold an eight-stroke advantage over fourth-place Richmond and remain firmly in the hunt heading into the final 18 holes.
Senior Filippa Jansson has paced the Hatters individually, finishing the day tied for 15th at +2 after carding steady rounds of +1 and +1. Jansson's consistency has helped anchor the Stetson lineup as the Hatters navigated challenging conditions throughout the day.
Sophomore Isaki Sakashita sits tied for 17th at +3, highlighted by an opening-round -1, while Anna Huettl joins her at +3 after a solid first-round performance. Julieta Oviedo is tied for 20th at +5, and Ailsa Brannock rounds out the team scorers in a tie for 39th at +9.
Competing as an individual, Bridget Butler is tied for 20th at +5, following an even-par opening round with a second-round +5.
Florida and Duke lead the field entering Tuesday, while Stetson continues to separate itself from the rest of the pack in a tightly contested race behind the leaders. The Hatters will look to close the gap in the final round as play resumes Tuesday morning.
The final round of the Sea Best Intercollegiate begins Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start at San Jose Country Club.
