Men’s Golf Heads to West Bay Collegiate

DeLAND, Fla. – Coming off a strong showing at the Florida Atlantic Invitational, the Stetson University men's golf team returns to action Monday and Tuesday at the annual West Bay Collegiate Invitational at West Bay Club in Estero.

The Hatters finished third last week at The Bear's Club in Jupiter, led by sophomore Uy Doan, who claimed his first collegiate individual title with a 14-under-par 202. Doan posted three consecutive rounds in the 60s, including a pair of 68s, to finish three strokes ahead of the field.

Stetson will use the same lineup that competed at FAU, with Doan joined by Simon Engman, Gabriel Lindahl, Federico Randazzo and Thanattasorn Supinraj. Jack Northgraves will also compete as an individual, with his scores not counting toward the Hatters' team total.

Stetson will compete against a 15-team field that includes Appalachian State, Elon, Florida Atlantic, host FGCU, Houston Christian, Jacksonville, Lamar, Lipscomb, Louisiana Monroe, Troy, UCF, UT Rio Grande Valley, UT San Antonio and West Georgia.  A limited number of golfers from South Florida will also participate as individuals.

Each team will compete with five golfers, with the four lowest scores from each round counting toward the team total. The tournament opens Monday with 36 holes beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start, followed by the final 18-hole round Tuesday morning at 9 a.m.

The West Bay Club course measures 6,939 yards and plays to a par of 72. Originally designed by Pete and P.B. Dye and renovated by Fry-Straka in 2018, the course blends strategic challenges with the natural landscape of Southwest Florida's wetlands and preserves.  From the back tees, the course carries a 73.6 rating and 139 slope. The layout is known for its expansive greens, strategic design and commitment to environmental stewardship.

Following the West Bay Collegiate, Stetson will close out its fall schedule Oct. 12-14 at The Bryson Invitational at Doral Resort and Spa in Miami.
