MARICOPA, Ariz. — The Stetson women's golf team opened play at the 2026 Women's National Golf Invitational on Friday with a 10-over par 298, placing the Hatters tied for fourth after the opening round at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club.
Stetson is tied with Denver in the team standings and trails tournament leader Wyoming (-1, 287) along with Bradley and Rutgers, who are tied for second at 8-over par.
Filippa Jansson and Bridget Butler paced the Hatters with matching 1-over par 73s and sit tied for seventh individually heading into Saturday's second round.
Elizabeth Eberle followed close behind in a tie for 18th after carding a 3-over 75, while Anna Huettl shot a 5-over 77 to finish the day tied for 34th. Freshman Maggie Potash rounded out the lineup tied for 43rd with an 8-over 80.
The Hatters leaned on consistency throughout the day, recording the second-most pars in the field with 58, trailing only Rutgers' 67. Stetson also totaled nine birdies during the opening round.
Butler led the team with 13 pars, while Jansson added 12 of her own. Jansson and Eberle each recorded a team-best three birdies on the day, while Butler added two birdies in her strong opening round.
Stetson will continue play Saturday paired alongside Lipscomb, which sits sixth at 13-over par. Tee times begin at 8:05 a.m. local time on hole 11 with Potash, while Jansson will tee off last for the Hatters at 8:37 a.m. on hole 15.
