PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – Bridget Butler fired a 2-under 69 to lead Stetson women's golf through the second round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge on Monday at Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.
The Hatters carded a 15-over 299 in the second round and sit tied for 11th in the 23-team field at 17-over 585 through 36 holes. Stetson is just one shot behind a tie for ninth and seven shots outside the top five entering Tuesday's final round.
Butler turned in Stetson's low round of the day, using a strong back nine to climb into a tie for sixth individually at 1-under for the tournament. After making the turn at even par, Butler recorded five birdies on the back nine to come home in 2-under 34. Her 69 matched the second-lowest round of her collegiate career and moved her 36-hole total to 141.
Isaki Sakashita followed her opening-round 69 with a 5-over 76 and sits tied for 24th at 3-over 145 through two rounds.
Maggie Potash and Clara Willem each carded a 6-over 77 on Monday. Potash sits tied for 84th at 11-over, while Willem is tied for 54th at 7-over in her Stetson debut. Anna Huettl posted a 7-over 78 and is tied for 71st at 9-over.
UNCW moved into the team lead following a 3-under 281 on Monday and sits at 3-under 565 for the tournament. Stetson is tied with Lipscomb at 17-over heading into the final 18 holes.
The Hatters return to Caledonia Golf & Fish Club Tuesday for the final round of the Golfweek Fall Challenge.
