(DeLand, Fla.) ? The Stetson men's tennis team moved above .500 in the conference with a 6-1 win over Campbell Wednesday afternoon at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center.  The Hatters took the doubles point and five of the six singles matches to defeat the Camels. 

The Hatters (7-5, 2-1 A-Sun) have won seven of their last eight matches, including the last three.  The Camels dropped to 7-7 overall and 1-3 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. 

“It was another great performance today against one of the top teams in our conference,” head coach Pierre Pilote said. 

Freshman Hicham Laalej improved to 10-2 on the year with a win in the #1 singles competition, where he replaced Marcus Echtler who sat out the singles portion of the day.  Laalej defeated Gabriel Delarue 6-3, 6-3 to move to 2-0 in the #1 spot this year.

Joey Jones and Filip Kricka each record wins to improve their respective singles records to 9-3. 

Kricka and Echtler improved to 8-2 as a doubles team with an 8-3 win over Delarue and Marc Sifre in the #1 doubles competition. 

“We need to keep this momentum for this upcoming weekend as Mercer is another one of those teams who challenges for the top of the conference standings,” Pilote said.

The Hatters face Mercer on the road on Saturday at 10 AM.
