The 63rd-ranked Stetson men's tennis team improved to 3-2 on the season and started Atlantic Sun play 1-0 after a 7-0 sweep of visiting Florida Gulf Coast (0-4, 0-1 A-Sun) Saturday morning at the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center. The Hatters won all three doubles matches and won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Junior Mark Mestan (Cologne, Germany) enjoyed the most dominating performance, blasting Thibaud Aime 6-0, 6-1 at #2 singles after teaming with freshman Maksim Levanovich (Minsk, Belarus) to roll past Rafael Costa and Edson Lima 8-3 at #3 doubles. Three other Hatters earned 6-1 set victories, including freshman Alon de Koker (Longboat Key, Fla.) who won 6-1, 6-1 at #6 singles over Costa.
The Hatters are back in action next weekend when they head to Mobile, Ala. for a pair of matches, starting with #75 UAB at 10 a.m. Saturday, February 21.
