Stetson Takes 5-2 Road Win at Kennesaw State

Kennesaw, Ga. - The Stetson men's tennis team (11-5, 3-2 Atlantic Sun) got back on the winning track Saturday with a 5-2 win at Kennesaw State in Atlantic Sun Conference action.  Senior Alex Hackett (Surrey, England) and junior Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway) won in singles and doubles for the Hatters.

The Hatters got off to a strong start with 8-2 doubles wins on Courts 2 and 3 from the Stene/Chris Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) and Hackett/Hans Adrian Riseng (Oslo, Norway) combinations to take an early 1-0 lead in the match.  Hackett brought Stetson its second point with a 6-0, 6-4 singles win over Michael Langel on Court 4 while Stene, sophomore Didrik Berg (Oslo, Norway) and junior Cesare Gallo (Portogruaro, Italy) all toughed out three-set victories at the top three positions in the lineup to nail down the team win.

Gallo defeated Gianni Kubin 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 on Court 1, Stene knocked off Tyler Mills 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 on Court 2 and Berg led Simon Janik 6-3, 6-7, 4-1 when Janik retired from the match.

Stetson returns home to the Mandy Stoll Tennis Center for a 2:30 p.m. Tuesday match with Winthrop.  Live scoring will be available at GoHatters.com.
