Hatters Fall 5-2 at South Carolina State

Men's Tennis Stetson University

73rd-Ranked UNF Cuts Down Hatters 6-1

Jacksonville, Fla. - The Stetson men's tennis team (16-9, 5-4 Atlantic Sun) took the doubles point at 73rd-ranked A-Sun rival North Florida (12-6, 7-1 A-Sun) but saw its momentum end there in a 6-1 loss to the Ospreys at the UNF Tennis Complex on Friday.  Four different third sets or tiebreakers all swung away from Stetson to cap off a tough afternoon.

Senior Alex Hackett (Surrey, England) and freshman Hans Adrian Riseng (Oslo, Norway) took an 8-5 win over Moritz Buerchner and Leonardo Nahar on Court 3 and when the #1 doubles tandem of junior Njal Stene (Oslo, Norway) and senior Chris Swanteson (Vaxjo, Sweden) did likewise, the Hatters had a 1-0 lead in the match heading to singles play.

Unfortunately for Stetson, all six singles matches went to UNF.  Two Ospreys claimed straight set wins, but the match was still in doubt until results on Courts 1, 2 and 3 (all involving tiebreakers at some point) went in favor of the home team as well.

The Hatters remain in the River City, concluding the A-Sun portion of their schedule at 10 a.m. Saturday at Jacksonville.
