Hall of Fame
Deeply entrenched in the history of both Stetson University and Stetson Athletics, George Borders was inducted into the Stetson Hall of Fame in 1982. A student-athlete (1957-61), coach and administrator, Borders carved out a lengthy career serving students in higher education. A baseball and soccer player during his years as an undergraduate, the Neptune Beach, Fla., native spent a total of six seasons over three different tenures (1967-70, 1972, 1975) as head coach of the men’s soccer program. As an administrator at Stetson, Borders was Dean of Men, Dean of Students and Vice President of Student Affairs before leaving to become the third president at Palm Beach Atlantic University. In 1989, Borders was awarded Stetson’s Distinguished Alumni Award.
