Hall of Fame
A basketball star as an undergrad, Lois Thacker made her mark on the world following college. After her graduation from Stetson in 1939, Thacker went on to attend the University of Florida Law School. Upon her graduation from law school, Thacker found jobs for women in the legal profession in short supply, so she went on to volunteer and help lobby for disadvantaged youths. She supported racial equality at a time when many were satisfied with legal segregation. In 2003, she was awarded the Florida Bar's Medal of Honor, its highest honor. In 2005 she received the Distinguished Alumni Award from Stetson. Thacker was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 1981.
