A former captain for the Stetson baseball team, Jeff Altier has served the Stetson Athletics Department since 1984. After spending six seasons as an assistant baseball coach for the Hatters, Altier moved into athletic administration, serving in the ticket office, marketing and promotions, concessions and team travel. In 1995, Altier was named Athletic Director. He was instrumental in helping Stetson host the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament five times (1993, 1999, 2004, 2014 and 2017). Facility growth was significant under Altier, as the Hatters added the Wilson Athletic Center, Melching Field, Patricia Wilson Field, Athletic Training Center, and Cooper Beach Volleyball Courts during his tenure. He is also credited with returning football as an intercollegiate sport, as the Hatters returned to the gridiron in 2013 after a 57-year absence. He was inducted into the Stetson Athletics Hall of Fame in 2015.
